Satisfactions in going to national parks

or getting back to nature

in any of a variety of ways, such as,

hunting, fishing, hiking, and biking,

are down payments, if you will,

or foretastes of fuller meals

lying hidden by fears of re-becoming

our natural selves, lost somewhere

along the civilizing path of social acceptance,

itself so threatened by the natural world

as to often paint it bad

as though "desires of the flesh"

are the voice of the devil

instead of God's silent call to return

and resurrect our sacrificed selves
